Sunset Cove Open House to be Held June 14

Sunset Cove, the first home in the Maine Lakefront Club portfolio, is nearly complete. If you are in the area on June 14, please stop by our Open House between noon and 5 p.m. We are looking forward to showcasing this exquisite log home in which no detail or indulgence has been spared.

This is also a great opportunity to inquire about the special privileges that come with being a Founding Member of Maine Lakefront Club.

Sunset Cove Construction Progress - and photos!

We're fortunate to have bought a beautiful spec home that was nearly complete when we discovered the listing. We've named it Sunset Cove because of the ideal western exposure on Little Sebago Lake.

The finishing touches are coming along wonderfully, and we're excited to have Sunset Cove be the first home to be incorporated into the Maine Lakefront Club portfolio.

The hickory flooring is being installed this week, as is the tile work in the bathrooms.

Here are some photos that show the fabulous wrap-around deck, the view of Little Sebago Lake, and the flooring in the living room. We'll be getting to landscaping shortly.



We expect Sunset Cove to be complete in July. Best wishes for a fun-filled Memorial Day weekend on the lake. That's where we'll be anyway!

Common Loon Facts

A few fun loon facts: There are five species of loons in the world, but only the Common Loon breeds in Maine. Loons migrate to the Atlantic, Gulf or Pacific coasts of North America during the winter months returning to fresh water lakes and ponds in the summer. Breeding loon pairs generally return to the same lake each spring and often to the same territory where they were born.

If loons are lucky, they’ll live to be 25-30 years old.  Adult loons are three feet long and have a four foot wingspan. A male in peak breeding condition can weigh up to 14 pounds. 

Contrary to popular belief, loons do not mate for life, however the mating bond will last up to seven years. Both male and female take turns incubating the eggs on their nest which take 26-31 days to hatch. Typical dates for nesting in Maine are between mid-May and mid-June. Most loons’ nests have two eggs.

The chicks are able to swim immediately after hatching and within a week they can dive short distances underwater. Chicks ride on their parents backs during the first three months of life to remain safe from enemies, conserve energy, and stay warm.

The Common Loon has four different main calls: 

The "wail" sounds like a wolf howl. Individuals use this call to find their mates and chicks.

The "tremolo" call sounds like a trembling laugh. It is normally used when loons are disturbed, it is also the only call they use while flying.

The "yodel" is a sustained call made up of several of the same three syllable squeals. This is an aggressive call generally given in territorial confrontations by male loons. Each male has an individual yodel. Only the male yodels, so that is one way to tell males from females.

Finally, the "hoot" is a soft one-note call loons use in close quarters.

Signs of the Season

Lakefront living offers some very special ways to mark the changing seasons, but for me there is nothing more spectacular than the annual return of our beloved loons each spring. What is most amazing to us is the timing of their return to the lake. Regardless of when the ice is officially out, the loons return within 24 hours and on a least two years of our tracking such events they returned within hours of ice out.

Seeing these magnificent birds and hearing their truly unique calls signifies summer is back.....even if it’s April 11th, which is when it happened for us this year, exactly the same day as ice out!

Sunset Cove - Maine Lakefront Club's First Home

We could not have found a better inaugural property for Maine Lakefront Club! Located on Little Sebago, Sunset Cove is a brand new log home with over 4,500 square-feet of exceptional living space. Offering panoramic views, the property is nestled on Little Sebago's Eastern shore - which means breathtaking sunset views. Watch the sun set from the dock, the over-sized, wrapped deck, or the sandy beach which offers 162 feet of water frontage and a stone fire pit (perfect for making s'mores!). Unobstructed views are also exposed by floor-to-ceiling windows and doors.

The ground floor features a custom, gourmet kitchen with professional grade stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops. The living room will be outfitted with luxurious leather seating and a gas stove. This level also offers a half-bath, laundry facilities, and a heated, two-car garage.

There are four-bedroom suites upstairs, each with its own bath. A loft room with cathedral ceiling provides a great setting for reading, playing board games, and relaxation.

An entertainment Mecca can be found on the lower level. Leading to an outdoor hot tub and stone path to the beach, the space is equipped with a pool table and hickory cocktail table with bar stools. The media room offers leather, stadium-style seating, flat screen television, surround sound, and a game table.

Our canine guests will be thrilled with the lake access and spacious living quarters. And, of course, we have provided Orvis beds for their napping pleasure. After a day of swimming and playing fetch, they will surely crave a good night's sleep!
